This honey garlic shrimp recipe is quick and easy! It's made with only 6 ingredients, yet somehow results in the most addictive sweet and sticky sauce. We love serving this with freshly made rice and a side of vegetables.

    About This Recipe

If you haven't realized by now, I looove honey garlic (see here, here, and here). It was probably my favorite flavor profile growing up. Whenever my family went to Chinese takeout (or any restaurant that served it), I would order it.

Last week I got a big bag of frozen shrimp from Costco, and so I had the idea to cook it honey garlic style. I knew it tasted delicious with chicken, but would the lighter flavor profile of shrimp work well? Well, I can tell you that it definitely exceeded my expectations!

The shrimp came out juicy and tender, and each piece was thinly coated with the sweet and sticky honey garlic sauce. And let me tell you... it was so good served over freshly steamed rice. If you're a fan of easy shrimp recipes, this one will be right up your alley.

    Key Ingredients

    ingredients prepped in bowls.

Shrimp: I used size 31-40 frozen shrimp from Costco, which means there are 31-40 shrimp per pound. I really like the Kirkland brand of frozen shrimp because they do not flake apart when they defrost. Also, they're deveined already (I had to remove the tails though).

Honey: Any type of honey will work for this recipe.

Soy sauce: Provides the salty and savory depth that balances the sweetness.

Rice vinegar: Just a tiny bit of rice vinegar helps elevate all the flavors.

Garlic: Try to mince these as fine as possible so more of the flavor goes into the sauce quickly.

Oil: For sauteeing the shrimp. Any high-smoke-point seed oil, or olive oil, is good.

    Instructions

    sauce mixture in bowl.

STEP 1: In a small bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. Set aside.

STEP 2: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until cooked through. Remove to a bowl.

STEP 3: Add another tablespoon of oil. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add the sauce mixture from earlier and cook until the sauce bubbles and thickens, 2-3 minutes.

STEP 4: Return the shrimp to the pan and toss to coat evenly. Serve immediately with steamed rice. Enjoy!
