This Chex Mix recipe has to be one of the greatest party/potluck foods ever. It's savory, salty, crunchy, and absolutely addictive. My recipe is based on the original recipe published by Chex, and it's made with cereal, bagel chips, pretzels, nuts, and a savory seasoning combination.

About This Recipe
I'm literally eating a bowl of Chex Mix as I write this post right now... And I regret not pouring myself a bigger bowl because I've already wolfed down most of it. This stuff is SERIOUSLY addictive. The combination of crispy Chex cereals tossed with pretzels, nuts, and bagel chips is unbeatable, and the salty, savory seasoning makes it absolutely irresistible. Pardon me as I go get another bowl...
Homemade Chex mix is the ultimate savory snack for parties, potlucks, and any type of gathering. It's equally great as an after-school snack for kids or an easy option for road trips and camping. Once made, it'll last for several weeks on the counter in an airtight container. I love keeping mine within arm's reach of my desk for quick munching throughout the day!
This recipe is based on the original Chex Mix recipe (published here if you're wondering), but I've modified it to be baked in the oven instead of microwaving, since I've heard microwaving does not make them as crunchy. Also, we don't have a microwave in our house.
Key Ingredients

Chex cereal: The original recipe calls for 3 different varieties of Chex (corn, rice, and wheat), but you can just use one variety to save money. The company that made the recipe obviously wants you to buy more boxes, so they make more money. If you decide to use just one, I'd recommend corn or wheat because the rice one is more fragile and tends to have more broken pieces.
Pretzels: Mini pretzel twists or sticks are the perfect size for this chex mix recipe.
Bagel chips: You can use whatever flavor of bagel chips you want, just make sure to snap them into smaller pieces for easier snacking.
Unsalted butter: I recommend using unsalted butter, as there is plenty of salt in the seasoning salt.
Worcestershire sauce: Adds savory and tangy flavor!
Seasoned salt: A blend of spices and salt. Truthfully, any brand will work, but Lawry's is the most popular choice.
Garlic powder & onion powder: These give the Chex mix a much stronger taste. The original recipe recommends only ¾ teaspoon and ½ teaspoon each, but from my experience (and what I've read online), more is better. I recommend 1 teaspoon of each.
Instructions

STEP 1: In a large bowl, combine the Chex cereals, pretzels, bagel chips, and mixed nuts (I just use roasted peanuts).

STEP 2: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder.

STEP 3: Drizzle ¼ of the butter mixture over the cereal and toss to coat. Repeat three more times with the remaining butter mixture until the cereal is evenly coated.

STEP 4: Divide the cereal between the two parchment-lined baking sheets. Spread out in an even layer.

STEP 5: Bake for 50-60 minutes until golden brown and crisp. Stir every 15 minutes and switch the pans from top to bottom so the cereal cooks evenly.
