    About This Recipe

For all you non-bakers out there... this one is for you. I wish I had known about this recipe when I was a kid because it would have saved me from so many failed baking disasters when I was craving something sweet. These peanut butter balls are incredibly fast and easy to make and taste delicious. They're perfect for snacking on at home or sharing with friends and family.

The basic recipe is very simple, but you can get creative with it in a lot of ways. For example, you could add some vanilla extract to the filling, sprinkle on some roasted peanuts, or even add coconut flakes to the outside. The sky is the limit.

I love keeping these in my freezer so that they stay food-safe for months, and I also love the texture of cold chocolate.

    Key Ingredients

    ingredients prepped in bowls.

Peanut Butter: For dessert recipes, I always recommend using a processed peanut butter instead of natural because the texture is much creamier.

Powdered sugar: You're going to want to use powdered sugar for this recipe so that the sugar dissolves more easily. Granulated sugar would require heating up the filling to dissolve properly.

Butter: Some butter helps lighten up the texture of the filling.

Rice Krispies cereal: I LOVE the texture of Rice Krispies in peanut butter balls. I do not know why some recipes do not use it, because I think it tastes infinitely better with it.

Chocolate chips: You can also use chocolate bars. If you're making this for kids, I recommend using semi-sweet or milk chocolate. For adults, I always use dark chocolate since we appreciate the bitterness more than kids.

    Instructions

peanut butter mixture whisked in bowl.

STEP 1: In a large bowl, cream together the peanut butter, butter, and powdered sugar until smooth.

Rice Krispies cereal stirred into mixture.

STEP 2: Stir in the cereal.

mixture rolled into balls and arranged on baking sheet.

STEP 3: Roll the mixture into balls and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill in the freezer for 20 minutes to firm up.

chocolate being melted in double boiler.

STEP 4: Melt the chocolate using a double boiler, or place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring after each one, until smooth.

STEP 5: Dip the peanut butter balls into the melted chocolate and place them back on the cookie sheet.
