These fluffy Chocolate Chip Pancakes bring back many childhood memories, and they're incredibly easy to make, too. Sure, you can buy pancake mix, but homemade pancakes from scratch are way better! The main ingredients are flour, milk, eggs, sugar, and plenty of chocolate chips.

    About This Recipe

Growing up, I remember making these for my friends whenever they slept over at my house. I always asked them if they wanted chocolate chip or plain and it was almost always unanimously chocolate chip. Kids love anything sweet.

This recipe is incredibly easy to make and comes together in less than 20 minutes. It's exactly the same as a regular pancake recipe but with chocolate chips folded into the batter. They're fluffy, soft, and very tasty.

Fun fact: I prefer to eat these pancakes after they've been refrigerated for a day. The chocolate chips get hard and give the pancake a nice crunchy texture. It's probably the same reason why I refrigerate my chocolate chip muffins. I love the contrasting texture between crunchy chocolate chips and cakey goodness.

    Key Ingredients

    ingredients prepped in bowls.

Dry ingredients: For the dry ingredients, you'll need all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Wet ingredients: You'll need milk, eggs, and butter. You can also use oil instead of butter, but the taste of butter is much better.

Chocolate chips: I prefer using dark chocolate chips for these because they're less sweet. As I get older, I find myself making that choice a lot. But feel free to use semi-sweet or milk if you prefer.

    Instructions

STEP 1: Whisk together the dry ingredients in a large bowl.

wet ingredients being whisked together in bowl.

STEP 2: In a separate (smaller) bowl, combine the wet ingredients. Don't worry if the butter hardens at this stage. It's totally normal because the milk is cold.

STEP 3: Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour the wet ingredients inside. Mix until JUST combined. Be careful not to overmix and this will cause the pancakes to not be as fluffy.

STEP 5: Heat a greased pan over medium heat. Add ¼ cup of batter and cook until the edges start to dry up and the surface starts forming bubbles, 2 minutes.

STEP 6: Flip and continue cooking for 1-2 more minutes until golden brown. Serve with your favorite pancake toppings. Enjoy!
