Ingredients

For the dough

For the garlic topping

Optional toppings

  • grated parmesan
  • Italian seasoning/oregano

Instructions

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, whisk the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
  • Add the warm water and olive oil, then mix with the dough hook - or knead by hand- for 5 to 7 minutes until the dough is fairly smooth. If the dough is dry, add up to ¼ more water.
  • Transfer to a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let the dough rise in a warm spot for 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size. For the warm spot, I like to turn my oven on for 30 seconds, turn it off, and place the bowl inside with the oven light on.
  • Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 9-inch long breadstick. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 20 minutes. In the meantime, preheat your oven to 450°F, and make the garlic topping by combining all the ingredients in a small bowl.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly browned. While still hot, brush on the garlic butter. Enjoy!
