These Bisquick Breadsticks are extremely easy to make and one of the fastest breadsticks I have ever made. The entire recipe only took me 30 minutes. I like to make my own homemade garlic butter and top the breadsticks with Kraft parmesan cheese.

If I'm being completely honest, these breadsticks did not have as good of a texture as regular breadsticks. They were more "cakey" and crumbly rather than "bready." The reason is because Bisquick has cornstarch which makes the dough more fluffy. That said, these still turned out pretty good, and I think they even tasted better than some previous breadstick recipes I have tried.
Homemade garlic butter
Have you ever had the crazy bread at Little Caesar's? I think my version of garlic butter tastes very similar to theirs. I use butter, salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and a little MSG for extra umami. If you're not okay with MSG, you don't have to add it. I sometimes do not add it and it still tastes really good.
Why I use fake parmesan
I actually think "fake" parmesan tastes better than real parmesan for these types of recipes. I used to work in a pizza restaurant and we always used the fake parmesan for our breadsticks. It has a bit of a processed taste but in a good way. One caveat I have found though is that the fake parmesan tends to burn if you bake it for too long, so I sprinkle it on after baking.
Bisquick Breadsticks
Ingredients
- 3 cups Bisquick pancake & baking mix
- ¾ cup water
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 3 tablespoons Kraft Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the Bisquick mix, water, and oil. Stir until a shaggy dough forms, then gently knead in the bowl until smooth.
- Grease a pizza pan with two tablespoons of oil. Place the dough in the center of the pan. Press the dough outwards until it becomes a ½-inch thick circle.
- Cover with plastic wrap and let the dough rest for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, make the garlic butter by combining the butter, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F.
- Spread about ¾ of the garlic butter onto the dough.
- Bake for 10-11 minutes until the top is golden brown.
- Spread the remaining garlic butter onto the dough. Sprinkle on the parmesan and return to the oven for one minute (I find this helps the parmesan stick to the dough)
- Transfer the pizza to a cutting board. Cut it in half and then into sticks. Enjoy!
