Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

This is the BEST chocolate chip banana bread you will ever make. It's incredibly soft, moist, and loaded with chocolate chips. My friend's mom shared this recipe with me when I was a kid, and it is still the best banana bread I have ever tried.

Ingredients

  • 1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour (180g)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup melted unsalted butter (110g)
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 ½ cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3-4 bananas)
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips (plus extra for sprinkling on top)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan, and line with parchment paper so the bread doesn't stick.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then set that aside.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter, sugar, and brown sugar for 1–2 minutes.
  • Mix in the mashed bananas. Then, add the yogurt, eggs, and vanilla. Stir everything together until it's fully combined.
  • Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until there's no dry flour left. Then, fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and smooth out the top. If you like, sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top. Bake for 65-75 minutes. It's done when a toothpick poked in the center comes out with no wet batter; a few crumbs are OK.
  • Let the bread cool in the pan for about 45 minutes. Once it's cool, slide a knife around the edges of the pan, then flip it upside down to release it. Slice, and serve!
